Rock On

How can I explain my musical taste to people?
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
$$$$
_____$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$_____
$$$$
$$$$
_____$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$_____
$$$$ I think I should try to explain this to people, because it can get pretty fucking
$$$$
_____$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$_____
$$$$ confusing. For instance, my poor roomate Justin Smith, he'll hear me
$$$$
_____$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$_____
$$$$ me playing 99.3 the fox over the internet, then latter im listening to some deep house
$$$$
_____$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$_____
$$$$ or "chill out music", then maybe to Dave Mathews or Tom Waits, and once in a wile
$$$$
_____$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$_____
$$$$ i'll throw on a little slayer. And don't forget about "Liquor and whores" by bubbles.

_____$$____$$$____$$_____

$$$$
_____$______$______$_____
$$$$ So how do i explain my music? It's all about maximizing my mood, when i choose
$$$$
_____$______$______$_____
$$$$ what type of music to listen to. But whats realy behind the music i choose is totaly
$$$$
_____$______$______$_____

$$$$ is true to them. Alice in Chains for example, you listen to their music, and it fits

$$$$ is not a big deal in most of what i listen to. It's like art, there's alot of crazy shit

$$$$$$ compare Sloan, doing "Money City Maniacs" to Limp Bizkits "The channel".
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Sloans song fits, but Limps is like... there's a band and then a front man. So for me to like a band, the whole band has got to sound good as a band, and forget the hype. So with saying that, it makes it easier to understand why i probibly listen to as much or more electronic or instrumental music. Because usualy you wont get conflicting egos.

When it comes to electronic music, my taste is mostly for the lounge style (Buddha Bar, Tricky, Amon Tobin, Thevery Corporation) or i like the more energetic Drumb and Base / Funky Breaks style. It's a shame that Kamloops doesn't seem to support music like this asides from dishing out mega cash to listen to it in a funky restaurant like Tango's. I've like these two genre's for a few years now and my intrest in them hasn't realy gone away. but i should note how i got to these styles. When i first started getting into electronic it was through experimental stuff, like Legion of Green Men, and CITR radio from UBC, then when i started going to "raves" i got into trance, and through trance i got into breaks, breaks went into hardcore (both heavy hardcore and ... haha, happy hardcore(go starwars theme go!) and then i got into House. The most amazing party i went to was a "house music" party in vancouver where a funky house dj had a set where he played along side a live sax player, and they basicly jammed through the set. That was an amazing combination that i would love to see again. At that show i first saw LACE, he's a local vancouver guy who does live PA (like crystal method and daft punk) this guy's set was awesome, the video went so well with the music and hes songs were funny and realy intelegent. Anyways, after i got into house, i started getting out of the rave scene for many reasons, and house music, which is more "intelegent" musicly got me listening to bits of Jazz, blues, and R & B. Around this time i picked up a CD called Jungle Jazz, which i still listen to today, and it's alot more mellower than house, and i started listening to this genre. So now im realy into Thevery Corporation, The New Deal, Buddha Bar, Tricky and others like that.

So basicly, i like listening to music that you can tell comes from the heart of hard working profectionist musicians, where instrument works together with no distractions. When i pick a CD to listen to, it usualy depends on what im going to do, metal for working out or chores, to the more loung style when im doing homework.

However, by putting on a CD, doesn't gaurantee that im going to actualy do what i planned on doing... as i should probibly get back to my homework now.

Leaving the Loops

Aaahh Friday!  Aaahh the last test is over!
Robin's test was much better than i thought it would have been, and she should be thanked for highlighting the correct answer in the multiple choice!

This year of school was probibly the best yet assides from the first year at VCC.  I found everyone in Kamloops is alot nicer and less superficial than at VCC, which at times felt like being a contestent on a ghetto version of the Apprentice.

The best times were probibly down at the Blue's Grotto.  The worst times were dealing with a landlord that sounds sincere but his word is worth nothing.  He was supposed to finish the basement suite in September, it is now almost May and it is still not finished yet... his excuse "It would be more fun for him if he didn't have to rush".  I'll be looking forward to living in the dorms next year and finaly finishing school.  but will I be finished?  Dr. Love is only a couple more years down the road. Take it as it goes I guess, I don't want to mess with traditions.  Those last words Megan, you should read them over again.  If you don't go back to school next year, it's alright, as long as your doing what you feel is the right thing to be doing at that exact moment, then it is the right decision.

It will be nice to get back down to the coast, I've had enough of the dusty air up here, I have been spitting out mud for a month, I should go back to smoking, there is at least a filter.

Tanya, These last couple weeks have been great.  I hope to see you this summer and until then, know i'll miss you.

Keep on Rockin
